Due to the lack of time I have to answer everyone's e-mails, I have decided to set up a helpful FAQ so that you may be directed to the answer you seek!
So, what would you like to know?
As for not legal copies...I do know of copies of Where in Time roms for the Nintendo. You download the emulator and can play it on your computer. Vimm's Lair has what you need. The ROM is listed under "W."
Yes, I have played this version, and it's not nearly as snazzy as the new games. But, still- keep in mind this game was released in 1991 or so. The Carmen games have come a LONG way since!
Other than that, I have no clue as to where to find versions of the Carmen games on-line.
My game isn't working right, do you know what to do?
Probably not and if I did, my reply would probably get to you way too late. :( Broderbund has set up a support section, and they'd know much better than I would! Click here for Tech Support
I bought one of the Carmen board games but lost (or it was missing) the directions. How do I play?
I have heard people say they checked University Game's Website to no avail. Yet, I found the directions page and it outlined things all right for me. The Directions Page has an index of the titles they have. Click on the one you need, and there are your directions! Note: I did not see directions for Where in Space? listed. I have never played the game, so I have no idea how to play. Sorry!
Do you know where I can contact any of the voice actors of the animated series?
I've searched high and low, but to no avail! I've even had requests from a brother-in-law of Jennifer Hale and a classmate of Scott Menville. If anyone knows, please e-mail me!
Hey, you work for Broderbund, don't you? Your site is linked to the Carmen Sandiego Connection, after all!
It is, but note the following words: "an unoffical site." Yes, Broderbund is aware of this site's existance, and was kind enough to link it to their own. But, I do not receive any payment or such from them. I'm a recongized site, but that's all. I don't work for any company that owns the rights, licenses, etc. for Carmen Sandiego even.
Back in the winter of 1997, an employee at Broderbund named Matt Fishbach contacted me and said he had seen my site and said that once the new Carmen Sandiego Connection was set up, he would see to it my site was linked to it. I again thank him for the support and help he has given me!
Wait! Is Carmen owned by Broderbund or The Learning Company?
Well...I think the Learning Company now. I happened to notice on the package for the Think Quick Challege CD-ROM the copyright was given to the Learning Company. TLC bought Broderbund awhile ago, and I guess they now own some of their major products.
What happened to the Carmen Sandiego Connection?
The Learning Company has redesigned the site to make it an interactive persuit of the master thief. Product information is avaliable in the parent's section as well.
Where can I see the cartoon/gameshow?
As of this update, the cartoon airs only in sydication. Only certain markets air the series.
As for the 2 PBS gameshows, neither is airing anywhere. I am not sure if PBS is considering doing another. The official site has said "Carmen is off on another adventure" for years now.
Other than PBS, I'm not sure what other network would want to carry the series. Unless of course, The Game Show Network ever starts reairing kiddie game shows...
Why isn't this site updated as often as it used to be?
Two reason really- First of all...there isn't much going on in the Carmen cartoon world. The show has been off the air for years, so really...there's isn't much new to report. Secondly, real life. I'm just rather busy with other things right now.
However, I am in need of someone to help me out so if you want to help me, by all means, contact me at carmen4118@yahoo.com
Hey! Why haven't you looked at the fic (picture, etc.) I sent you yet?
Either I haven't had the time or if you sent to me a long time ago, silly me might have forgotten about it. If it's been awhile, feel free to remind me. Since this site is updated rarely, you may need to remind me.
What's with this "darkfic" I've seen mentioned on other Carmen sites?
Quite simply, Dark-fic is fan-fic that is intended for older viewers of the series. (I'd say 17+). The stories' content varies by story of course. Some themes in these stories include major violence, suicide, religious questioning, and some sexual situations.
I don't put those works on my page, nor do I link them to my site in any way. I want to stay rather kid-friendly (most stories, at their worst are PG-13). But, if you wish to read or contribute your own dark-fic to the CS Dark-fic Society, (the webpage that archives it all) contact Carli at MsLarceny@hotmail.com. And no, I have no problem with that.
May I link your site?
Sure. :) Either one of these of these 3 addresses works:
http://www.geocites.com/Hollywood/4118/sandiego.html
http://www.geocites.com/carmen4477/sandiego.html
I found some information on your site I'd like to use in my paper. May I?
You may. If you need to site it in a paper, here's the citation in both APA and MLA formats:
APA Reference:
LeBlanc, L. (1996, July 2) The Sandiego Manor. Retrieved Month Day, Year
from the World Wide Web: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/4118/sandiego.html
MLA Reference :
LeBlanc, Laureen. The Sandiego Manor. 2 July 1996.
Day Month Year Accessed
Of course, replace Day, Month, Year with the day, month and year you accessed this site. (I know, I state the obvious, don't I? *g*) If you use another page within this site, for example the Rita Moreno biography, change the title to Rita Moreno and change the sandiego.html to aboutrita.html.
I have to do a paper on this geographical place/historical event. Can you help?
Well...not really due to my busy schedule. But, just about anything you need can be found at Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators. An excellent and informative site! Go to: http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide/
