ONE TRUE THING Ivy quickly glanced around at the lovely atmosphere about her. The night was so perfect, the moon was shimmery and full, and looking up at it from her table at the Ivy Restaurant in London, Ivy felt like a princess in a fairy tale. This had been the idea of her boyfriend, Josha. She had now been dating him for two years, in all her twenty years on Earth she had never met such a decent, sweet, caring person as this wonderful man who was now seated across from her. For their two year anniversary, he had said he would surprise her with the most wonderful evening ever, but she had never in a million years dreamed she would be in London, at a restaurant that bared her name! She smiled at him and smoothed out her light blue dress. Her turquoise eyes twinkled brightly, they seemed to dance, they way they had always seemed to dance whenever she was happy. Josha smiled back at her. He tried to be calm, but inside a million butterflies were fluttering away. He had made the reservations, he had bought the tuxedo, he had the one thing he needed in his brest pocket, he saved his salery for two months to be able to afford it. It was all up to him now. He glanced at the unbelieveably beautiful young woman looking at him from the special table he had reserved. He smiled loveingly, his heart beating away. two years ago he never thought something like this would happen to him, but it did. he never thought when he came here from Cuba this could happen, but it had, and he had to keep pinching himself to make sure this picture of loveliness was real. She was not only beautiful, but strong, moral, smart, and so caring. She was unlike any woman he had known, and he knew after her he never wanted to be with another. He gentily kissed her hand and looked into her eyes. "It's so lovely tonight, Josha." "The moon?" "The whole restaurant! I mean, I never knew there was a restaurant that shared my name! That's funny!" "Not really. It's only fitting that a lovely restaurant should be named after a lovely woman." "Josha, you're so sweet!" "So are you, Ivy. Sweet and kind, and so smart and lovely." "Josha.." "I mean it." He cleared his throat. Now the time had come. "Ivy, you know my newest invention, the device that could scense whether a criminal was at the premesis anytime? Kind of like a seeing-eye dog?" "Yeah. But you said it was better because it could pick up the scent anytime, it would be so sensative the scent would never fade." "Yeah. Well, I sent it to the people at the plant, and they loved it! They gave me a raise and a promotion!" "Josha! That's great!!" Ivy sprang from her chair, hugged him, and kissed him deeply. Josha grabbed her, flew out of his chair, and spun her around. "Ivy!!" he laughed. "Oh, Ivy, I love you so much!!" "I love you, too." "You mean that?" "Yes, of course." he smiled. "Oh, Ivy, you mean so much to me. Every time I see you, you bring joy and encouragement into my life. You have literally turned my life around.I feel I have everything now, a new home with my raise, a great new job, what would really make it complete would be my dearest love to share it with forever. I love you with all my heart and I would like to share my whole life with only you forever." He got down on one knee, took out a beautiful ring from his brest pocket, and presented it to her. "Ivy Renee Glennen, will you marry me?" She stared at the lovely ring, her heart pounding, looked into his eyes, then smiled. "Yes, of course, Josha. Of course I'll marry you!" She wrapped her arms around him and he kissed her deeply. To be continued...
